Al Masmak palace and museum

Almasmak palace is a clay castle located in Ad Dirah neighborhood in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was built in mid 1800’s for Abdulrahman Aldabaan. It has an importance as one of the major landmarks in Saudi Arabia. During the unifications of the kingdom, the ‘Battle of Riyadh’ took place there (It is one of the main battles at the time.) After that, in 1995, the fortress was kept as a museum.

I had the opportunity to visit the castle and the museum close by it last week. It was quite interesting to learn about the history of Saudi Arabia. As a Saudi, I definitely had a prior knowledge about the history of my homeland. However having a closer experience was different. I recommend visiting this location for people interested in history, or would like to learn about Saudi Arabia when visiting. Here are some of the photos I captured there:

After taking the above pictures, I wandered for few minutes, close by the castle, to take pictures of the landscape and surrounding area. To my surprise, the pigeons suddenly flew in a circular movement. I immediately pointed my camera, and was lucky to capture this amazing moment. Here are the photos. After that, I went to the national museum near by. It was also a beautiful experience. Unfortunately, I was only able to take few photographs, while I was there due to the battery in my camera died. Yet, here are the pictures I took of the national museum.
